Welcome to My Life

so...today has been crazy to say the least.  Actually the past 2 days have been.  It all started yesterday when I decided to go on a grocery errand.  That then turned into my car breaking down on the highway, and I had to get it towed to a repair shop.  Today, I found out that basically a part just broke way before it should have and as a result I will need to pay 2k to fix all the damage.  Talk about bad luck.  So just as my job was picking up and I was looking forward to having extra money, now all my extra money will be going to this car repair.  So, the following song has definitely been how I feel today.  Actually, any song by Simple Plan today has been what I've been in the mood for.  I've just been really down today trying to get over the shock of this.  Especially because I'm so attached to this car but I'm now faced with whether I should trade it in before it just starts having repairs left and right since this past year it definitely has put a dent in my wallet.  Oh life.  But enough on that, I'll just leave this song here for ya.

I'm Just a Kid

Whether we want to or not, we grow up.  Time passes by before you know it.  I know at age 23 I'm just wondering where all the time went and how I got here so fast.  It's weird doing this adulting thing.  I actually have to be responsible and all that.
I know I'm still adjusting to this new phase of life even though sometimes I feel like I'm still just a kid who doesn't know what they are doing.  The truth is though everyone around you, all your friends and peers, feel the same way.  They may look like they are all put together and know what they are doing but what they don't tell you is that they are new to this too and it's making them feel just as awkward and weird.
Some days you are a boss ass bitch and you feel like you owned at life but as you adjust into this new world and stage there will be the days that you feel lost and like you can't do anything right.  The important thing to remember is that you aren't alone and it's ok to feel lost sometimes.  Sometimes that's what helps us figure things out so that we do better next time.
Most importantly don't lose the kid at heart that is inside you.  Yes, you are now responsible for the food on your table and the roof above you but that doesn't mean you have to lose your fun spirit and stop having fun.  You can grow up without becoming serious and boring.  Life will stress you out but don't forget to have fun once in a while.

Charmed

So, for the past couple of weeks, I have been working in a different grooming salon where I am learning how to do actual haircuts on dogs.  While there I have met a whole new group of coworkers and one of them introduced me to the punk rock band Dynamite Boy.  I actually really like the band and so below is a song of theirs.  I like how the lead singers sound reminds me a little of Big Reel Fish but it's obviously not Ska haha.

Mr. and Mrs. Beautiful

The Workday Release is an artist that I ran across recently and I have ended up loving their music.  This song is the one that I really love although all their songs are pretty.   This artist isn't super well known yet either so I am really glad to have found this little gem.

Every Time I look for You

So recently I've been talking to an old friend.  Actually, this person is an ex of mine.  We dated for a couple years and then he broke up with me because he decided I wasn't his "perfect girl".  Since then he's been dating a girl for a little over a year.
We are over each other and now every now and then I give him relationship advice since I know him really well and can help him sort out any issues he's having.  Recently, now that he's been with this other girl a while, he's finding similar reasons to break up with her that he had with me.  They aren't the same reasons he had with me, but they are small things yet again.  Let me tell you, if he keeps the way he's going he's never going to be happy with anyone and here is why.
He has this image of his perfect girl and instead of focusing on what he loves about his girl he lets the little imperfections gnaw at him and skew his view of the relationship because she doesn't meet this expectation he has.
Our recent conversations have had me thinking about relationships and the expectations versus realities.  Reality is, you won't ever find the "perfect" person, but you do learn to love them just as they are.  Not every relationship is meant to be but if you have a great person and let little things get in the way, it's going to ruin every relationship you have.
I feel like in this world a lot of people do this because we are constantly fed images of a "perfect couple" in movies and media.  People are raised thinking that when it's meant to be then no issues will be present and it will be the honeymoon phase forever.  A happy relationship is wonderful, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't take work and compromise to enjoy it.  I'm completely happy in my current relationship but no, it is not exactly how I pictured a perfect relationship.  The truth is, I'm happier with it being different than what I pictured and I wouldn't have it any other way because I love my boyfriend exactly the way he is and if he did act how I pictured a perfect relationship he wouldn't be him and honestly, I may not even like our relationship as much.  In the end, my relationship with him has become my perfect relationship.
Think about it.  You are taking two completely different people with different backgrounds, experiences, and personalities and combining their lives into one.  That alone indicates that there will be rough patches and adjusting to do on both parts.
I am not condoning lowering standards though.  Standards you have should be maintained and you should know what you won't budge on when it comes to what you expect from a relationship.  There are always things that you need in a relationship that are dealbreakers if they aren't present.  However, when it comes to the little stuff, people need to stop dwelling on what doesn't match up with their image and be happy with what they do have.  The world isn't perfect so it's no surprise that the people in it aren't either.

We are the Crazy Kids

Traveling and going somewhere new to vacation and party is never a bad idea.  It's a ton of fun.  Honestly though, to have a great time you don't necessarily have to spend a lot of money going somewhere new.  I find some of my equally best memories come from those easygoing, simple nights with friends.

Earlier this week my friend and I decided to hang out and do a belated birthday celebration for her since I wasn't able to celebrate when she had her birthday.  We went out for a couple drinks but then we went back to her place to just chill in her apartments hot tub and sip on another drink.  Honestly, it was definitely a time to remember.  It was just us and my boyfriend hanging out and we just enjoyed good conversation relaxing in a hot tub.  It's a pretty simple recipe for a great night and we had a lot of fun doing it.  It was exactly the kind of break from my busy schedule that I needed,

Vacations are awesome and definitely should be had, but when the budget is tight or you can't take too much time off, you really can have a great time just hanging out with close friends.  All through college some of my best nights were the simpler nights.  Yes, the pre-planned huge Halloween party of senior year or the various other events I hosted or attended were a lot of fun but I have just as many good memories from the simple nights as well.  Just a reminder to those who can't necessarily go somewhere for a vacation or do something elaborate, as long as you have a few good friends you can easily have just as memorable a time.

I'm Staring at my Closet full of Clothes and I still have Nothing to Wear

So I went shopping yesterday with a friend.  It is a guilty pleasure of mine although I do prefer to call it my hobby.  I don't know what it is about clothes.  Honestly, they are way overpriced, and they are a terrible investment.  You don't get your money back at all from them, but yet so many people still put so much money into them.  In fact, I have a closet full of clothes, I really don't need more, but yet I still love to go out and browse shops looking for a killer outfit to join my closet.

Don't get me wrong, all wardrobes need updating and revising, but I know many people, myself included, who own way more clothes than they know what to do with this.

I don't know about everyone else, but I know for me it is just fun to shop.  I enjoy looking at what is new and out there.  Trying on clothes to see what different ones look like on me is fun.  Finally, picking out one or two to bring home and add to my wardrobe is the prize.  I love finding new outfits for special occasions.  Or even looking for one for a future occasion of which I have no idea of yet.  There's just something about shopping and finding an outfit that looks amazing on that just feels good.  This however does lead to excessive clothes and it really is a terrible investment.  Even on sale some clothes are so very expensive.  I went into this cute little boutique in the mall yesterday and everything in there was so expensive but very very cute.  I only came out with a pair of $3 earrings and honestly, that felt like a steal in this store.  I say this because when I found my way to the sale section they had shirts on "sale" for $40.  $40!  Imagine the original price of that shirt then?  And that's not even a complete outfit, that is just a shirt you are getting.  Their sale section was far from what I consider a sale but the clothes were cute enough that many people would get them anyway.  Granted, I have found that the more pricey an item is, it tends to be better quality and will last.  But honestly, with the rate I shop, only a select few clothes last my style preferences beyond a few years so is getting quality really that important when you shop as much as I do?  Some outfits, yes, you will keep forever and it will be worth it.  Most of the time however I find this is not the case.

Enough on clothes though, I'm sure I'm boring you but for some reason I felt like talking about them and how ridiculous and yet fun clothes can be.
