We are the Crazy Kids

Traveling and going somewhere new to vacation and party is never a bad idea.  It's a ton of fun.  Honestly though, to have a great time you don't necessarily have to spend a lot of money going somewhere new.  I find some of my equally best memories come from those easygoing, simple nights with friends.

Earlier this week my friend and I decided to hang out and do a belated birthday celebration for her since I wasn't able to celebrate when she had her birthday.  We went out for a couple drinks but then we went back to her place to just chill in her apartments hot tub and sip on another drink.  Honestly, it was definitely a time to remember.  It was just us and my boyfriend hanging out and we just enjoyed good conversation relaxing in a hot tub.  It's a pretty simple recipe for a great night and we had a lot of fun doing it.  It was exactly the kind of break from my busy schedule that I needed,

Vacations are awesome and definitely should be had, but when the budget is tight or you can't take too much time off, you really can have a great time just hanging out with close friends.  All through college some of my best nights were the simpler nights.  Yes, the pre-planned huge Halloween party of senior year or the various other events I hosted or attended were a lot of fun but I have just as many good memories from the simple nights as well.  Just a reminder to those who can't necessarily go somewhere for a vacation or do something elaborate, as long as you have a few good friends you can easily have just as memorable a time.

I'm Staring at my Closet full of Clothes and I still have Nothing to Wear

So I went shopping yesterday with a friend.  It is a guilty pleasure of mine although I do prefer to call it my hobby.  I don't know what it is about clothes.  Honestly, they are way overpriced, and they are a terrible investment.  You don't get your money back at all from them, but yet so many people still put so much money into them.  In fact, I have a closet full of clothes, I really don't need more, but yet I still love to go out and browse shops looking for a killer outfit to join my closet.

Don't get me wrong, all wardrobes need updating and revising, but I know many people, myself included, who own way more clothes than they know what to do with this.

I don't know about everyone else, but I know for me it is just fun to shop.  I enjoy looking at what is new and out there.  Trying on clothes to see what different ones look like on me is fun.  Finally, picking out one or two to bring home and add to my wardrobe is the prize.  I love finding new outfits for special occasions.  Or even looking for one for a future occasion of which I have no idea of yet.  There's just something about shopping and finding an outfit that looks amazing on that just feels good.  This however does lead to excessive clothes and it really is a terrible investment.  Even on sale some clothes are so very expensive.  I went into this cute little boutique in the mall yesterday and everything in there was so expensive but very very cute.  I only came out with a pair of $3 earrings and honestly, that felt like a steal in this store.  I say this because when I found my way to the sale section they had shirts on "sale" for $40.  $40!  Imagine the original price of that shirt then?  And that's not even a complete outfit, that is just a shirt you are getting.  Their sale section was far from what I consider a sale but the clothes were cute enough that many people would get them anyway.  Granted, I have found that the more pricey an item is, it tends to be better quality and will last.  But honestly, with the rate I shop, only a select few clothes last my style preferences beyond a few years so is getting quality really that important when you shop as much as I do?  Some outfits, yes, you will keep forever and it will be worth it.  Most of the time however I find this is not the case.

Enough on clothes though, I'm sure I'm boring you but for some reason I felt like talking about them and how ridiculous and yet fun clothes can be.

Future Hearts

So, at like 1:00 in the morning today, before going to sleep, I decided right then was a fantastic time to buy a new music album.  I know, best time ever for that right?  Anyway, I ended up getting the album Future Hearts by All Time Low and let me tell you, it did not disappoint me in any way.  I listened to it once last night to fall asleep to so I re-listened this morning so I could give a better, non sleep induced review haha.  I love it.  I think the album is stronger at the beginning with the first songs but it may take a few listens for the last few to become just as loved.  With all that said, it was really hard to pick a song to post as a sample from the album.  I was torn between three.  I ended up deciding on the song "Missing You" that I have posted below.  I don't know about all of you, but I love punk rock/pop rock and this album is everything I could want from a punk rock album.  It's angsty.  It speaks to the misunderstood side of you but also tells you everything will be ok.  That is what I love about it.  So if this is your kind of music give a listen, because this album is amazing and I know I will be listening to it on repeat this summer season.

Lying is the Most Fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off - Panic! at the Disco

I love this classic song.  However, today was the first day I saw the music video after hearing this song for years and I have to say, I loved it.  It's weird, artsy, and unique.  What's not to love!  So yes, please watch it and enjoy this amazing song.

I Fell In Love With The Girl At The Rock Show...

So I decided maybe I should explain my blog title.  I love Punk rock music.  Blink 182 is one of my favorite bands (among many) and I love this line from their song "The Rock Show."  I can't really explain it, I just love it.
I think it's because the hopeless romantic in me automatically pictures this guy and girl that don't know each other meeting at their favorite bands show and they fall in love.  Every time I hear this song it just makes me imagine that, and it's just a pretty picture in my head.
So fast forward to today, I tried thinking of what I wanted to call my blog that will have a lot of personal stories or thoughts on it.  This phrase in a way captures a part of me and who I am so I thought it was a perfect title for my blog.  Anything can change in an instant and that's how I live life.  I live spontaneously and that's what that phrase says in a way.  You can meet someone in an instant that you will love for forever, and maybe it's just because you decided to buy tickets to see that band.  Crazy that that choice could change your entire life...or not.  I love that concept.  I know that's a lot to put behind just that one phrase but that's what that phrase from that song is to me and that's why it was a perfect name for my blog.

So Small in Such a Large City

I recently moved to Austin, TX and it's been quite an adventure.  I have always lived in Texas but this was my first time in a new city all by myself without anyone I know here.  Believe me, it is not at all what I expected.
First off, I had no idea how hard it would be to meet new friends.  I have had friends my whole life so not having friends right away was very foreign and scary to me.  Over the last 8 months of living here I have made a few friendships but it's still an uphill struggle to get together a core group.  A lot of the people I meet are either homebodies, happy at home with their significant other or they already have a friend group and just aren't looking for more friendships.  Since my boyfriend is two hours away, I want people to hang with during the week when he isn't here visiting.  So that has definitely been one of the biggest struggles of moving.  However, beyond that I have loved the experience.  I am living in one of my dream cities (my other being someplace in California) and it's amazing waking up every day knowing that I am making it here.
I also found my best friend here, Pickles.  Pickles is a dog I found running along a road.  After failing to find his owner I decided to let him stay with me and he has been a blessing every day.
I also am in a city that has a wide variety of things to do.  It's coming up on summer now and I am so psyched for lazy days by the pool or lake with a smirnoff ice in hand!  That is the life indeed.
I currently work in a grooming salon and dog daycare and couldn't be happier.  Working with dogs is my dream so I am really happy that I have the opportunity to work in my dream field.
Anyway, that is kind of where I am coming from and where my future stories will be based!  I am excited to share them in the future.  I got to go now, food is calling my name, but I'm sure I will be back with thoughts, pictures, or songs that speak to me on particular days.
